Migrating to Australia Resources

If you are living with HIV and planning on coming to Australia, the National Association of People with HIV Australia (NAPWHA) have made available a resources page with links to information and articles of particular interest to people with HIV who are new to Australia.

You may be able to study and work in Australia, and even live here permanently, but there are special visas and health waivers to consider. We recommend you give yourself plenty of time and ensure you have good advice from experts in the area.

The HIV/AIDS Legal Centre (HALC) is based in Sydney, and HALC’s website contains some very useful information including a Positive Migration Guide.

HIV treatment is available to everyone in Australia and is either free or very affordable depending on which state you live. No Medicare, no problem.
