Whilst most diseases and infections do have symptoms, some may not show symptoms all the time, or at all; but tests provided by your doctor can determine if the disease or infection is present. Some stages of HIV infection can be asymptomatic, especially in the early infection stages, after an initial seroconversion illness. Some sexually transmitted infections (STIs) may not show symptoms – this is why getting regular HIV and STI tests is important, especially if you have multiple sex partners or don’t use condoms consistently.
