Talking About Stigma

For many people living with HIV, the stigma can be more damaging than the virus. Despite the advances in HIV treatment allowing people to live long, healthy lives, stigma remains a constant battle for those with HIV.

The stigma around HIV creates a vicious cycle, deterring people from getting tested or disclosing their status, while causing long-term psychological affects for people living with HIV.

Educating society on the impacts of stigma and challenging those perpetuating it, is more important now than ever. This series calls on people to unite in fighting stigma – to challenge and expose it when it occurs so we can help foster a future that’s free of HIV stigma and discrimination.
