DESCRIPTION:Whether you’ve been living with HIV for a long time\, or perhaps you’ve been diagnosed with HIV later in your life\, these days you can look forward living a long and fabulous life well into the future. \nTo help do exactly that\, the Queensland Government are partnering with Queensland Positive People to host the Positively Ageing Forum for older people living with HIV. \nThe forum brings together representatives from community organisations and government departments\, providing unique and specific information for our older community. \nYou will be able to talk to experts about a range of supports and initiatives including: \n\nQueensland Government concessions and rebates for older Queenslanders\nprotecting your rights\, legally and financially as you age\naccessing the right aged care supports\nstaying safe and connected\n\nIf you are a older person living with HIV\, we’d love you to join us on Monday 5 June 2023 from 11:00am-2.30pm\, at the Emporium Hotel Southbank\, in the cultural heart of Brisbane and very close to public transport. \nAt the forum we will be acknowledging HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day\, held on the day\, so it’s a great opportunity to and share experiences and connect with other long term survivors. \nOur Master of Ceremony Tobin Saunders AKA Vanessa Wagner will facilitate lively and informative “conversations on the couch” with our speakers and special guests. \nTobin lives openly with HIV and isn’t afraid to share his experiences\, especially about getting older and living with HIV. \nThere will be stalls staffed by community organisations and government departments at the forum to explore and ask questions over the included light lunch. \nIf you have difficultly driving or accessing public transport\, assistance with transport is available to those travelling from Toowoomba\, Ipswich\, the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast\, and of course for those with mobility issues. DESCRIPTION:Our next Multicultural Social Group is on Saturday 24th September\, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at our main QPP Office\, at 21 Manilla Street\, East Brisbane QLD 4169.\n\n\n \n\n\nWe have a fabulous guest joining us\, who will talk about their migration experience as a person living with HIV\, and share the importance of self-care in going through a long and rigorous migration journey ahead.\n\n\n \n\n\nYou can RSVP here\n\n\n \n\n\nThe event is not intended to provide migration or legal advice; however\, it is an informal discussion to connect and support the positive community\, but if you have any questions our guest would like to respond as well\, please feel free to email us at info@qpp.org.au before the date.\n\n\n \n\n\nThe Multicultural Social Group is open to all and is primarily a safe space for people living with HIV who are international students\, holiday workers and other temporary visa entrants in Queensland. Come and meet new friends\, share stories and culture\, and have fun! There is always a peer navigator present to support the group at all times.
